MESSAGE
FROM DIANA
Hope all my
American readers had a wonderful 4th of July! We did. Instead of the
usual hamburgers and hot dogs (we had those on the 3rd), we headed
over to Little Italy in Wilmington for some amazing Italian, followed
by fireworks on the River Front. It was delightful.
So what's not
so great in my universe?
Dressing rooms.
Specifically, Junior Department dressing rooms.
When my oldest
daughter, Cassie (age 11), moved into junior sizes around Christmas
time last year, I remember being appalled by the condition of the
fitting rooms we encountered: empty hangers, clothes on the floor,
cluttered benches. I assumed it was because of the hectic Christmas
shopping season at the mall.
I was wrong.
In the six
months since, I've discovered that a tidy fitting room used by
pre-teen and teenage girls does not exist in the Tri-State area. I
can only image what these girls' bedrooms and bathrooms must be like
if this is how they clean up after themselves in public.
As Cassie
tried on clothes the other night, I watched as one young thing with
an engagement ring peeked into a messy dressing room, asked if I was
using it, and then shuttered herself inside to try on a dress. When
she was done, she simply left the dress on the floor where she'd
stepped out of it and went back to shopping. Unbelievable! I guess
her guy's not marrying her for her housekeeping skills -
So what's my
point? Always leave your fitting rooms clean for the next person and
teach your children to do the same. You know - "Do unto
others" and all that. It used to be called 'common courtesy,'
but obviously, it's not all that common anymore.
Thanks for
letting me sound off. If you'd like to do the same, you can leave a
comment on my blog (and check out the new site design) here:

So what's on
tap for today's article? A perennial summer favorite: 10 great
fashion sites to check out (but not on work time).
Enjoy!

My Clothing Calendar
http://www.myclothingcalendar.com

what you wore when? Need some help organizing your (or your clients')
press appearances? This handy site can help. It's a web-based
clothing journal that allows you to record what you wore when, how
you accessorized, and who saw you in it. A GREAT tool - especially if
you're photographed a lot. A MUST for the socialite, celebrity, or
politico - or anyone who likes to be organized.

regular basis. It's fun AND addictive, even if you're more of a shoe,
jewelry, or jacket kind of gal. . .
The Coveted
http://www.the-coveted.com
The
twenty-something writer behind this site offers a fresh approach to
fashion, reviewing trends, collections, and products not normally

Style Crave
http://www.stylecrave.com
For the
handful of men on this list - and for women who like to learn/read/lust
after well dressed men - this men's style portal is a must see. Cool
cars, great architecture, amazing fashion, hot women - everything a
stylish man could want. Except, of course, a way to pay for it all&ldots;
Wasn't that fun?
One of the
great things about the web is getting to see things outside your
local venue or regular magazine subscriptions. There are A LOT of
cool sites out there - all you have to do is look.
If you have a

Peasant Top (pez ant top)
|
The peasant
top, or gypsy blouse, is a billowy top that has a scooped neckline
with tight-fitting cuffs and a tight-fitting waist. It may be on or
off the shoulder, long or short sleeved, and is usually tucked into a
waistband with an added belt. It's a popular style in historical
dramas about pirates or gypsies, but it can also be a fun top to wear
to barbecues or fiestas. Colorful skirt/pants/shorts optional. |
